Educational System

Fukushima University introduced a new structure consisting of an educational system (clusters and faculties) and a research system in October 2004. Regarding the educational system, the former three faculties, Education, Administration and Social Sciences, and Economics, have been reorganized and transformed into two clusters, the Cluster of Human and Social Sciences and the Cluster of Science and Technology. The former includes three faculties, Human Development and Culture, Administration and Social Sciences, and Economics and Business Administration, and the latter includes the Faculty of Symbiotic Systems Science. Acceptance of students into this new system started in April 2005. The Course of Liberal Arts for Modern Society (Nighttime Course) was also established in the Cluster of Human and Social Sciences.

Researchers' Department

There are 12 Researchers' Departments organized as Research System, where each academic staff belongs according to one's special field of study, and engages in one's research activities. For them as researcher, the Researchers' Departments are the fundamental organization of research on a daily basis. In addition, the Researchers' Departments can make significant contributions to maintenance and improvement of research quality of Fukushima University, and to regional communities. Such contribution are achieved through departments' activities such as cooperation with each other and with faculty education, the joint researches with the academic staff of neighboring universities, the various research projects satisfying the requirements for the regional society, and international affiliation with foreign researchers.
